It is really hard to imagine Everton paying the slightest bit of interest to the Europa League.
Kick-off time: Thursday 20:00
There doesn’t seem to be a lot of point for Roberto Martinez’s men. Still, they open their account this season with a home game against Wolfsburg, a side who they have never played before. Everton do though have an unbeaten streak going against German sides, not having lost any of their previous five meetings with anyone from the Bundesliga.
But Everton have won just one of their last five home matches, and have lost two of their last three European games at Goodison too. Wolfsburg are a solid enough side, finishing fifth in the Bundesliga last season. The Germans have lost their last two visits to England by a 2-1 scoreline and they are without a win in their last four European away games. They have been drawing a lot of games this season though, and given Everton’s probably lack of interest, back a draw.
